It is generally believed that cats can manage themselves perfectly and though this is partially true, in no way home cats that have been abandoned or have escaped aren?t able to hunt their food. Cats, same as all felines, are excellent hunters; in towns and cities they help us to get rid of rats and many kinds of insects, they ?clean? our streets of many undesirable and unpleasant bugs. However, and unfortunately for us, each time we have less free and green spaces, which decrease the cats? natural habitats where they can shelter or hunt, and traffic has multiplied. We are also witnesses to ?people? who take sadistic delight with mistreating, hurting or killing these inoffensive animals: by poisoning them, throwing stones at them, even stoning them to death?

REPORT ANIMALS POISONINGS AND MISTREATS!!!

Sometimes we cannot do anything against running over, poisoning or mistreat, but we can certainly be brave enough to report and denounce this kind of savage actions.

TAKE CARE AND FEED RESPONSIBLY YOUR ENVIRONMENT CATS &KITTENS!!!

Luckily there are many supportive people that take care and feed the cats of their street, quarter, job area, etc. Of course we agree on feeding them but this has to be done rationally, this is, they shouldn?t be fed with leftovers or rests of our food, this attracts animals that are not as beneficial as cats are. It would be ideal if they were given always cats feed, it doesn?t attract insects or rats and is healthier for them. It is also convenient that cats may have at their disposal some containers with water, our climate is not especially rainy and as living beings, they need water to survive.

Our dream would be that the population of stray cats was controlled through neutering. It?s utopian, as our economic and human resources are quite limited and we couldn?t afford it. Some of our neighbours collaborate with us paying the expenses of the cats of their area?s neutering operations. We also count on the invaluable help of some of the veterinary clinics in our town. Last year we could coordinate the first neutering campaign of stray cats in La Linea through an international NGO. We would like to repeat such kind of campaigns in the future, but procedures are long and complicated.
